About the Confederate flag - Rebel flag.
The first official flag of the Confederate States of America, called the ''Stars and Bars'', had seven stars in a circle pattern in the top left hand corner, representing the seven states that initially formed the Confederacy and a Red, White, Red vertical tri-band background. Proving difficult to distinguish the ''Stars and Bars'' from the Union Forces flag ''Stars and Stripes'' under chaotic battle conditions, the flag was changed to the ''Stainless Banner''. The Stainless Banner, also known as the ''Southern Cross'', became the symbol more commonly used in military operations. The Southern Cross had 13 stars, adding the four states that joined the Confederacy after Fort Sumter, and the two divided states of Kentucky and Missouri.

A rectangular variant of the battle flag used by some Confederate Army Units, now called ''Confederate Flag'' or ''Confederate Battle Flag'', despite this flag never having historically represented the CSA as a nation, it has become a widely recognized symbol of the South. It is referred to as the ''rebel flag'', or ''Dixie flag''.

Confederate States of America (CSA) represented by the stars on the Confederate flag are Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

About the Australia Boxing Kangaroo flag.
The Australian Boxing Kangaroo is a national symbol of Australia, frequently seen in popular sport and recreation culture. The symbol is often displayed prominently by Australian spectators at sporting events, such as at cricket, tennis, football matches, Commonwealth and Olympic Games events.

In 1983 the boxing kangaroo received national and international prominence when it served as the symbol for the successful Australian challenge for the America's Cup, where the boxing kangaroo flag, a red-gloved golden kangaroo on a green background, was flown from the America's Cup race winning yacht "Australia II".

Alan Bond (owner of the Australia II yacht) owned the Boxing Kangaroo image and licensed it for mass commercial production. The image was later bought by the Australian Olympic Committee, and is used as a mascot to represent the Australian Olympic team and to promote sport and fair play in schools and is often accompanied by the chanting of "Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!" by Australian sports fans worldwide!

About the Jolly Roger flag - Skull and Crossbones flag.
The Jolly Roger is any of various flags flown to identify a ship's crew as pirates. The flag most usually identified as the Jolly Roger today is the skull and crossbones, a flag consisting of a human skull above two long bones set in an x-mark arrangement on a black field. This design was used by several pirates, including Captains Edward England and John Taylor.

Some Jolly Roger flags also include an hourglass, another common symbol representing death in 17th and 18th century Europe. Despite its prominence in popular culture, plain black flags were often employed by most pirates in the 17th and 18th century.

Historically, the Jolly Roger, or pirate flag was flown to frighten pirates' victims into surrendering without a fight, since it conveyed the message that the attackers were outlaws who would not consider themselves bound by the usual rules of engagement—and might, therefore, slaughter those they defeated (since captured pirates were usually hanged, they did not have much to gain by asking quarter if defeated). The same message was sometimes conveyed by a plain red flag.

Since the decline of piracy, various military units have used the Jolly Roger, usually in skull-and-crossbones design, as a unit identification insignia or a victory flag to ascribe to themselves the proverbial ferocity and toughness of pirates, these groups included - on the tail of B-24 heavy bombers of the 90th Bombardment Group of the Fifth Air Force, on the tail of Grumman F-14 Tomcats of fighter squadron VF-84, Polish submarine ORP Sokó, British submarine HMS Utmost, HMS Proteus, HMS Conqueror, HMS Turbulent, HMS Triumph, and the Australian submarine HMAS Onslow flew the Jolly Roger in 1980, following her successful participation in the 'Kangaroo 3' war game as an opposing submarine.

SightRight dart training aid for perfect dart vision!

SightRight works in 4 easy steps to give Perfect Dart Vision so you can position yourself exactly on the oche time and time again. The patented design guarantees perfect sighting and, through letting dart players actually see if they are off line, SightRight prevents sighting across the line aim (like 99% of TV dart professionals).

Many dart players unknowingly set themselves up at the number 5 when aiming for treble 20. Each player’s sighting position will be different. However, once you're SightRight’d, your technique and biomechanics will develop a symmetrical throw with no side bias on the dartboard i.e. Double 16 and Double 10 will feel the same. SightRight straightens up the path of your darts into the dartboard dramatically reducing blocked doubles and trebles.

Mervyn King said: "I played professional darts for over 20 years off line. SightRight is amazing, it allows me to stand in exactly the right position every time I practice and I use it everyday”.

SightRight Instructions:
Centre the SightRight - use the plumb line to get the white SightRight line centre to the bullseye (See FIG 1). Place the SightRight darts aid with the lower end of the ‘Step’ nearest the wall. SightRight is designed to make you stand in exactly the same place, with perfect dart vision time and time again.

  1. Take your normal position at the oche then look at the SightRight - what do you see? (See FIG 2)

    1. Can you see a broken or kinked line or
    2. Can you see a continuous straight white line?

  2. Re-position yourself so that you can only see a perfect straight line (See FIG 3) and start to throw at the treble 20. You are looking to get straight darts into the board from your new throwing position. Don’t worry (yet) about where they land, just how straight they are, on entry and flight.

  3. If you are happy that your darts are straight and you are playing from your SightRight’d aiming position, continue to play and practice as normal as much as you can with your SightRight. You may need to re-train the feel and weight in your throw. The bigger the correction in your sighting and position at the oche, the more you will notice the difference in the weight of your throw.
TIP: Once your aiming has been corrected, pay close attention to your NEW foot position at the oche. This will allow you to be SightRight’d when playing without the aid in competitions, etc.

SIGHTRIGHT FAQ:

What about aiming for doubles?

Once SightRight’d you do not need to move - turn towards the double/treble/single you want to hit and your body will pivot perfectly, left or right, like shooting a gun. You will have to train the new weight of your throw, as you’re now symmetrical to every point on the dartboard, as opposed to throwing from different distances. You will no longer have short and long ‘opposite’ doubles which makes it easier to hit them. Your darts should now be straight going into the double bed dramatically reducing blocked doubles. (See FIG 4).

My darts are still not straight?
You’re probably still slightly off line technically in your throw and that needs correcting. Stand more side on to the dartboard until your darts straighten - your foot may end up at 90 degrees to the oche. The effect of turning your foot ‘side on’ will bring your throwing arm into line with your eyes.

Darts still not straight after changing your stance?
Now that you’re sighting and technique are perfectly in line, check that your grip and hand angle are not affecting your throw. Go back to basics - hold the dart like you would a pen pointing straight down the target line.

Your back swing and throw.
You may need to control / shorten your back swing to ensure you throw the dart from in front of your eyes i.e. not from the side of your head. This will help to develop an accurate throw in front of your eyes and enable you to actually start seeing along the flight of the dart as you improve. Some players may prefer shorter shafts to keep their throw in front of their eyes. The easiest way to get the dart position in front of your eyes, is to look into a mirror holding your darts.
